OSHA Requirements
OSHA requirements for hearing conservation protection programs are triggered by how much noise workers are exposed to at work. If you don't know exactly what their exposures are, your company could be subjected to OSHA inspections, citations & penalties, and lawsuits!
Types of monitoring:
Personal Noise Dosimetry
The Empirical Company use dosimeters to measure personnel exposure to
noise levels through the work day. Noise levels surrounding the
individual are measured and recorded over an eight-hour period (or for
the full work shift). We also observe and records general information
about personnel work processes.
Area Noise Level Monitoring
The Empirical Company measure and record noise levels in a general work
area to determine the extent of noise exposure or to measure the
effectiveness of engineering controls applied to a machine (such as
dampeners, insulation, isolation, distance). The noise level meter is
placed in a fixed location in the work area or near the source of the
noise.
The Empirical Company experienced staff will conduct full-shift personal sampling at your location to determine if employees are over-exposed to noise. Then you will receive a detailed written survey report that documents the equipment and protocols utilized during your survey, the findings of the survey, and specific recommendations for the steps you should take (if any) to get into compliance with applicable OSHA regulations for protecting your employees from excessive noise.
